The world becomes smaller every day through international politics and economic globalization. Our lives in the United States have profound effects on the lives of others across the globe, while the lives of others in foreign countries reach our television screens and computers. We are connected whether we choose to be or not.
The suffering of people in Darfur cannot be ignored, nor can we underestimate our own power to stop the violence and provide hope to the millions of displaced people in Darfur and Eastern Chad.
This is our chance to put meaning to the words proclaimed after the Holocaust but since then have gone unfulfilled: "Never again!"
